OSV = Original Sound Version

Here you will find OSV recordings from (mostly) games, but also other original/demo/remixes composed for and played on it's original soundhardware.

This does not mean it is Hi-Fi quality or sound better than let's say emulation, it's just original sound versions :-) Or at least as close as possible to it's original sound, if there is something worth say on how the recording was done then it will be in the "info" column.

Midi modules recordings may not get data from it's original system... for example X68000 gamemusic is played using a PC wich send the data to the module it's still the original soundhardware.
Not all gamesoundtracks are complete... as only those tunes avaible in soundtest may be recorded without getting soundeffects in the recordings and sometimes the soundtests don't have all music from the game... this mostly affects the arcade recordings, also the filenames are from the soundtests.

22 April 2012:

Finally an update :-)
Not much here yet, i am trying to have higher standard now with my OSV's with proper track names and all in FLAC format.
There will still be some recordings in OGG/MP3 format but it is not something i spend too much to create :-) Not many of the old recordings will be uploaded as they were in OGG format and many without proper tracknames... but i still have them so just contact me if you want anything seen in the "historical text" file.
When the "year" field is red instead of blue so is the recordings in compressed format.

13 November 2010:

Sorry nothing can be downloaded ATM since my server i had the files on is broken :-(
Email me if there is something you desperatly want.

The Game has 38 music files but only seems to use 19 of them in the game, or at least i only heard 19 of them while playing thru the game.

Pyrotechnica
(20 music files, 269 MB)

PC Music Ltd 1995 Recorded by Stefan Lindberg.
Using Yamaha TG100.
Most was recorded using Dosbox except BGM 3 and 4 wich was recorded using Hoot because the game crashes when playing these songs.

I don't know exactly who "PC Music Ltd" is?

The Elder Scrolls: Arena

Some songs seem to be unused in the game but can be found in the game files, i am not 100% sure they really are unused but have marked those i think are?

ARCADE

Music Author Year Info

Raycrisis
(23 music files, 500 MB)

Tamayo Kawamoto 1998 Recorded by Stefan Lindberg.
Arcade platform: Taito G-Net
Soundchip: ZOOM "ZSG-2" and DSP "TMS57002"
Recorded using an S/PDIF modification on the PCB.

Real samplerate of this system is "32.552khz" although my recordings are converted to 44.1khz for some compatibility problems i had, if it bothers you you can change the samplerate easily yourself :-)

Raystorm
(19 music files, 294 MB)

Tamayo Kawamoto 1996 Recorded by Stefan Lindberg.
Arcade platform: Taito FX-1
Soundchip: ZOOM "ZSG-2" and DSP "TMS57002"
Recorded using an S/PDIF modification on the PCB.
Samplerate... see "Raycrisis" info.

I did actually record this from an G-Net system with modified Bios that plays FX-1 games, the sound hardware of G-Net and FX-1 is identical

Special notice about the clicks heard in the recordings... it really sound like that on the real arcade PCB, i can only guess it is because of lazy sound conversion to by the programmers, the music is also many times too loud to be only 16bit so it is clipping (and no volume control)

Street Fighter EX
(22 music files, 276 MB)

Takayuki Aihara
Ayako Saso
Shinji Hosoe
1996 Recorded by Stefan Lindberg.
Arcade platform: ZN-1
Soundchip: Qsound

Sega Megadrive

Music Author Year Info

Time Trax (prototype)
(6 music files, 161 MB)

Tim Follin 1994/2013 Recorded by Stefan Lindberg.
Using a "Megadrive 1" with YM2612 soundchip.

From the prototype that was released in July 2013, the music was probably made in 1994 though
I recorded them at 50hz (PAL) speed as thats what Tim Follins own recording of the title music play at (recording can be found at his website).
